Qaramy, meaning “poetry” in the Quechua language of Argentina’s indigenous people. Qaramy Wines is one of the most exciting projects to come out of Mendoza in some time. Qaramy is owned by the Bromberg family and under the guidance of winemaker Karim Mussi Saffe the Estate is producing Malbec and blends from their 2 vineyards, Pachahuasi and Qailapuyu in Los Arboles/Tunuyan in the Upper Uco Valley.
They were consistently praised for the high level of quality of their grapes and therefore, they decided to begin using 10% of their grapes to create small lots of their own wines under the label Qaramy. In the second half of 2008 they built a small winery on their property, which truly solidified their commitment to not only being quality growers but also producers.
The colour is remarkably dark, with seemingly no edges. Aromas of blackberries, plums, pencil lead, and mocha dance out of the glass, and continue on the palate. It is unique for its velvety smoothness, and for being extremely fruit-forward while not over-extracted or over-oaky.
